Spouses and family members joined Batavia Rotarians for the annual Christmas dinner on December 11, 2013. The delectable meal, provided by chef Jason and staff at Enticing Cuisines, was roundly praised and enjoyed. Entrees were first-rate, dessert yummy, and snacks and salad tasty in a staightforward, restrained presentation. Wines and drinks were served and enjoyed. Ambiance was wonderful - several Rotarians remarked on the tasteful, cheery, and relaxing-but-still-pleasing decor - it was hard to believe that it's the same venue we meet in every week. The dinner was well-attended and the venue full. The mix of recent members with those of longer standing was especially pleasant.

Club president Jack Barshinger, wearing a sporty red velvet jacket (one of many holiday outfits worn that evening), kicked off the meeting and party with the pledge and the 4-way-test, followed by an invocation given by Tom Van Cleave. There was just a little business, with Rich Munson making sure the club's many holiday commitments were adequately staffed, planned, and announced.

Business aside, members enjoyed conversation and a nice, relaxing evening in the company of other happy, pleasant, Rotarians. George Scheetz read old-timey humorous poetry and other selections, we were able to renew and refresh acquaintances, and several members called out various cheers and challenges, the lucidity of which appeared to vary depending on the speaker's level of inebriation. Fortunately there were designated drivers on hand! A measure of the enjoyment: people stuck around! The party lasted from 6:00 PM until around midnight. A good time was had by all.
